The diverse and politically semi-autonomous region of Andalucía has a population of some 7 million and embodies what is thought of as typically Spanish – an accurate portrait of the place and its people must include the bullfight, flamenco, gypsies, remote white villages, high sierras and mass tourism on endless stretches of beach. The memories you take with you after a visit here will be colourful, joyous, intense and deeply stirring.

A relaxed and authentic bar. Flamenco shows tend to happen on Monday and Thursday nights.

In 1729 the Nuñez de Prado family erected this mansion, which has preserved its original structure. Perched over the cliff of La Peña, terracotta floors, wood beams, stone columns, ceramic tiles, hand-woven bedspreads and antiques are among the many details.

From its hilltop, this massive Spanish Renaissance church dominates the town. Its austere façade is relieved by a fine Plateresque portal, the Puerta del Sol. -
The name, “The Illustrious Victim”, refers, of course, to the bull. Murals on the walls and a laidback ambience make it a favourite hangout for writers who frequent the Alameda district.
