  • Port Olímpic Party Strip

Come nightfall – and well into the early hours of the morning – the Port Olímpic turns into a massive dance party, its long string of clubs and bars (Bars & Beach Clubs), booming everything from techno to salsa, Spanish pop to more techno. Club-hop your way down the strip and sip overpriced cocktails on the outdoor terraces before joining the sweaty, gyrating dance crowds inside. Entry into the bars and clubs along the strip is free, and most start getting lively after 10pm, staying open until 3am, 5am or later.

  • For over 10 years, this relaxed, friendly bar has stayed in vogue on a fickle gay scene. It gets impossibly busy around midnight at weekends and the music is loud, but it’s a good place to get fired up for a night out and get the latest on what else is happening in town.

  • Razzmatazz

Concerts – from rock to jazz – feature several nights a week at this trendy club. On Fridays and Saturdays, Razz Club is alternative. The Loft next door (run by the same people) plays electronica and techno.

  • A multiplex that shows films from around the world.

  • Multi-screened cinema with lots of Spanish and English films.

  • A typical local restaurant with a fantastically economical three-course lunch in pleasant and unpretentious surroundings.

  • Restaurante Castro

This ultra-chic restaurant offers hefty portions of Mediterranean cuisine with an exotic twist. The heavy duty decor of industrial-style black chains and metal is toned down by soft lighting and relaxing music. Make a reservation, as this is one of the most popular gay restaurants in town.

  • One big, comfortable auditorium showing mainstream films in English.

  • A giant aquarium is full of lobster, crabs and more, all waiting to be plucked out and served up fresh and sizzling on a plate.

  • Salsa turns up the heat at this often-heaving spot, where Latino music lovers flock to flirt and dance.
