Parc Güell
-
Originally conceived as a suburban estate to the north of the city, Parc Güell is like a surreal, Asian terraced farm. Twisting pathways and avenues of columned arches blend in with the hillside, playfully fusing nature and fantasy. The esplanade, with its stunning, curved, mosaic bench, is the park’s centrepiece. From here there are spectacular views Walks & Bike Rides of the entire city and of the fairy-tale gatehouses below. Gaudí’s former home is now the Casa-Museu Gaudí. (Parc Güell).

This place is a relaxing and spacious escape from the touristy centre and a cultural, botanical and sculptural gem! Huge tree trunks are mirrored in the peaceful echoing pillars beneath the huge mosaiced balcony at the entrance. Musicians play here and it's a great place to sit and chill after the trek up the hill before exploring the park in full. This is not a place to be rushed so don't try and see everything, just promise to revisit next time you're in the city! TIP The distance from the metro to the parc may look short on a map but please bear in mind that it's very steep. A taxi ride would be advised for the very young, elderly or disabled.
