With warm, crystal-clear waters lapping its sandy shores and mountains nuzzling up to its northern edge, this glittering jewel in the Mediterranean is blessed with desirable geographical genes. From the buoyant, revamped port area to the atmospheric medieval streets of the Barri Gòtic and the beautiful Modernista buildings of the Eixample, Barcelona has it all. A host of treasure-filled museums, architectural wonders, lively beaches and enchanting squares provide the icing on the cake.

The name means "the snails", but every time I have been there it has been the spit roasted chicken that has taken my fancy.
Located on a side street off the bottom of the Ramblas it is not that hard to find. Follow your nose to the before mentioned chickens. Service is brisk and they coped with a big group no problems. -
Wonderful food at very reasonable prices, after your meal have a glass of dessert wine, some from the 1920s. Liquid nectar!

Located on the Travessera de Gràcia and opend in 1892, the Mercat de l’Abaceria was historically a farmer's market. These days it's the ideal place for a spot of shopping or just to browse the colourful stalls and soak up the atmosphere.

These are great value holiday apartments in Barcelona. They are very centrally located - just off Las Ramblas.

One of the most unique shops for evening and wedding dresses is located in the bohemian quarter `el Borne´ in the Gothic Quarter. Entering the theatrical shop of the designer Natalie Capell, you will find a hand made fashion clothing elaborated with antique details and embroidery from the beginning of the 20th century. All displayed in a magical way.

A lovely sweet shop but with that little bit extra.
Rock of all shapes and sizes are on sale and, best of all, you can see it being made right in front of you. From a mass of molten sugar, the most amazing colours and patterns are created. After nipping in for a present or two you'll find you've been there nearly an hour, mesmerised by the rolling and shaping being played out on the counter.

When i first went there on this wonderful saturday morning, i couldn't believe that i would find myself in the most amazing park i have ever been.
It really is stunning, the laberint was quite confusing; there were young just married couples letting take pictures of them, and it really was more like a fairy tale forest were you would like to picturice that day.
While being in the park, i honestly didn't think that the big city was so close to me, it was so quiet, only birds were singing.

Port Adventura is perfect for the thrill seeker in everyone. Divided into four sections the park has many different rides and attractions on offer. You could get a taste of the oriental in China town or go back in time to a era where mining was still a profitable job career.

Lovely accommodation close to beach, approx 30 mins from Barcelona by rail or bus. Clean and friendly, excellent service and 24 hr reception. Pool and apartments have all mod cons.
500 yards to the beach Castelldefels Platja, so you can have the best of both worlds: A place to chill as well as being close to Barcelona.
