Come face to face with the teeming marine world of the Mediterranean at Barcelona’s impressive aquarium, the largest in Europe. The highlight is an 80-m (262-ft) long underwater tunnel equipped with a moving walkway that transports visitors through the deep blue unknown, while sharks glide menacingly close. A huge hit with the kids is the new Explora! floor, with interactive activities that allow you to explore the ecosystems of the Mediterranean.

This is the best aquarium I have ever been to. it is in a unique location, attached to a shopping centre and a pier jutting into the sea. This is especially ideal if you have teenage girls, as they can be dropped in the mall and the children taken next door, this worked perfectly in our case. The fish are placed in large tanks of which the habitats are described. The long moving walkway is very interesting but is quite slow and creaky. The fish are the widest variety and the children will love to see them, however the written material is quite monotonous. The only downfall is that when we entered we were dragged in to one of those photo stands, where they charge you lots of money for one awful photo. this consumed some of our precious time in the wonderful city. however don't be put off it is highly interesting and entertaining and it also has a large gift shop full of the usual merchandise.
