Berlin is Germany’s liveliest city and one of the most fascinating capitals in the world. You’ll find no other place where art and culture, museums and theatres, entertainment and nightlife are more diverse and exciting than on the banks of the Spree River. Once reunited, Berlin quickly developed into a cosmopolitan city, and today there is an air of energy and vibrancy about it.

A fragment of the Berlin Wall, 1.3 km (1,422 yards) long, was left standing next to the Spree River. In 1990, 118 artists from around the world painted colourful images onto the grey concrete wall, making it a unique work of art. Particularly famous is a picture by the Russian artist Dmitri Vrubel, showing Leonid Brezhnev and the East German leader Erich Honecker, exchanging fraternal Socialist kisses. Much has faded due to exhaust fumes, but it is now being restored.

Eastern Comfort Hostel has the prices and friendliness of a hostel, but is as nice as a hotel.
The hostel is located on a boat in the Spree River. It is next to the longest last standing part of the Berlin Wall and you actually have to walk through the wall to get there! There are lots of private rooms with bathrooms and most have a port-window view. Upstairs is a hip bar that is open to the public and is great to grab a snack and cocktails.
