Berlin

Berlin is Germany’s liveliest city and one of the most fascinating capitals in the world. You’ll find no other place where art and culture, museums and theatres, entertainment and nightlife are more diverse and exciting than on the banks of the Spree River. Once reunited, Berlin quickly developed into a cosmopolitan city, and today there is an air of energy and vibrancy about it.

  • The former pumping station is open for visits; the sculptures in the garden once decorated the Siegesallee (alley of triumph).

  • Le Bar du Paris Bar

Despite its name, the Paris Bar was until quite recently only a French restaurant. Now this trendy celebrity haunt has its own bar, and although the cocktails are not quite as good as those of the competition, it is easy to forget this when you are enjoying one of their wonderful French wines or champagnes.

  • Top-quality French cooking at moderate prices, attracting a Bohemian local crowd and others.

  • The apartment block where the French architect Corbusier lived was built for the 1957 Interbau trade fair. Designed to alleviate the acute housing shortage after World War II, it was highly innovative in its day.

  • LebensArt

A café rather than a pub or bar, offering breakfast and afternoon cakes, this is one of the few places open at night on Unter den Linden.

  • Meat and vegetarian dishes, freshly cooked in an antiquated clay oven, are the top attractions in this restaurant with summer terrace.

  • The Bohemian population of Charlottenburg considers this their “local lake”. It is not suitable for swimming, but idyllic meadows around the lake are ideally suited for sunbathing and snoozing. The shaded lakeside walks in the middle of the city are also popular with dog owners. In the evening, the few cafés on the east side offer a great view of the illuminated Funkturm.

  • Lindenlife

This stylish café also combines a wine bar and small restaurant. It is a meeting place for politicians and journalists as well as tourists.

  • The two canal locks behind the zoo, taking visitors across the dammed Landwehrkanal, are popular resting places.

  • Lola-Lounge

The new Lola-Lounge is a minimalist designer’s dream. It attracts a young, urban and suitably fashionable crowd who enjoy the computerized lighting system and the laidback lounge atmosphere of this bar with a restaurant. Choose from a long list of exotic and delicious cocktails.
