  • Le Bar du Paris Bar

Despite its name, the Paris Bar was until quite recently only a French restaurant. Now this trendy celebrity haunt has its own bar, and although the cocktails are not quite as good as those of the competition, it is easy to forget this when you are enjoying one of their wonderful French wines or champagnes.

  • LebensArt

A café rather than a pub or bar, offering breakfast and afternoon cakes, this is one of the few places open at night on Unter den Linden.

  • Lindenlife

This stylish café also combines a wine bar and small restaurant. It is a meeting place for politicians and journalists as well as tourists.

  • Lola-Lounge

The new Lola-Lounge is a minimalist designer’s dream. It attracts a young, urban and suitably fashionable crowd who enjoy the computerized lighting system and the laidback lounge atmosphere of this bar with a restaurant. Choose from a long list of exotic and delicious cocktails.

  • This restaurant, a favourite with day trippers to Wannsee, attracts visitors with its giant beer garden, shaded by chestnut trees. It always has a great atmosphere.

  • One of Berlin’s nicest beer gardens, on the Free University campus, Luise’s is crowded even at lunchtime and always boasts a good atmosphere. The delicious salads and sandwiches here are particularly worth trying.

  • Mister Hu

The locals would like to keep this secret to themselves: Mister Hu serves some of the greatest cocktails in town (see Bars & Lounges) .

  • Thanks to its reputation for fine cocktails, the ocean-themed Mister Hu is one of the most popular bars in town. The relaxed ambience attracts students, artists and alternative nighthawks. There are outdoor tables in summer. Cocktails with rum are particularly good. And don’t ask for Mr Hu – there’s no bartender with that name.

  • With its walls completely covered with Spanish tiles, this bar draws an upmarket Kreuzberg crowd as well as students who like to meet here for a beer. At weekends it is full to bursting and gets livelier by the hour.

  • One of the trendiest bars in town. Sink into the deep leather armchairs and sip your cocktails, surrounded by Helmut Newton’s photographs of proud women.
