  • A pub-restaurant with a great Old Berlin feel. Live jazz concerts at the weekend.

  • Yosoy

This attractively furnished Spanish restaurant serves tasty tapas, good wines and exciting cocktails – which is why it is crowded till late into the night.

  • This bar and restaurant is popular for its superb cocktails and wines, plus its colourful clientele – mostly actors, film producers and aspiring writers. The dark wooden floors and naked walls are typical for Charlottenburg.

  • A small restaurant, offering imaginative new interpretations of local fish specialities. The three-course set menu is one of the best and least expensive in the district.

  • A trendy coffee bar near Hackesche Höfe.

  • Atmospheric pub-restaurant, serving beer and the speciality, Berliner Weiße.

  • Zum Nußbaum

A charming historic pub in Nikolaiviertel, serving draft beers and Berliner Weiße in summer.

  • One of only a few traditional pubs in the historic Nikolaiviertel worth checking out, the Nußbaum serves draught beer and traditional Berlin food.

  • Zur letzten Instanz

Berlin’s oldest pub dates back to 1621, and former guests include Napoleon, the German artist Heinrich Zille and former Soviet leader Mikhael Gorbachev. The interior is charmingly aged.

  • Zwiebelfisch

A classic of the ageing Charlottenburg scene, this is where the last survivors of the 1968 generation prop up the bar and reminisce about the great days of the revolution in West Berlin. The artists in the photographs on the walls are all past clients, many of them from the 1968 generation. In the summer, there are tables outdoors on Savignyplatz – great for people-watching and taking in the scene.
