  • Only a few minutes from the western part of the city, this is the only hotel near Schloss Charlottenburg, right next to Schlosspark. Attached to it is a health and fitness centre – the facilities and the service are surprisingly good for such a small place: the hotel has only 40 rooms.

  • Works of art hang, stand and lie everywhere inside and outside this hotel, especially works by Wolf Vostell, and the interior is boldly designed in ultra-modern vibrant colours.

  • Architect Wolfang Borchardt has succeeded in turning the old Bolle Dairy into a modern hotel with friendly rooms and a restaurant, both overlooking the Spree River. Next door are the semi-circular modern glass buildings of the Ministry of the Interior.

  • A small family-run house on the Müggelspree, not far from a bathing beach and a boat-hire booth – the ideal place to relax and forget all about the hustle and bustle of the big city, which is, however, only a few kilometres to the northwest. Come here to chill out.

  • A first-class hotel, hidden away in a quiet park-like square, yet close to Ku’damm. The deluxe rooms are a particularly good deal – a private lounge, daily newspapers and free drinks are included if you stay here.

  • One of Berlin’s new luxury hotels, the Swissôtel is located at the busy corner of Ku’damm and Joachimsthaler Straße. Great views of the city, especially at night.

  • The Regent Berlin

Concealed behind the ultra-modern façade of this hotel is a late 19th-century building with thick carpets, sparkling chandeliers and tasteful wallpaper. Comfort of an international standard and discreet service are guaranteed.

  • A private gay-and-lesbian-friendly guesthouse, offering basic rooms and many insider tips on culture and nightlife. The only disadvantage is its location in Moabit – not one of Berlin’s most attractive areas.

  • Service of a high standard, and beautiful rooms with kitchen and bathroom – well suited for self-catering and situated in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg.

  • Luxury accommodation in an historic spot, at the corner of Friedrichstraße and Unter den Linden, offering large, elegant rooms and US-style service. The lobby and the grand stairs are breathtaking. There’s also a café and a bar.
