1. Café Wintergarten im Literaturhaus

One of Berlin’s most beautiful cafés is based in the conservatory of an old town house. In summer guests can sit outside, in the Literaturhaus garden.
2. Café Savigny

This gay and lesbian café, with traditional interior, has a relaxed atmosphere; the fruit flans are particularly worth trying.
3. Confiserie Leysieffer

Café Leysieffer, one of Berlin’s oldest patisseries, is based in the former Chinese embassy.
4. Café Kranzler

The new Café Kranzler is very different from the historic café of pre-World War II fame, yet the views over Ku’damm are just as amazing.
5. Café Filmbühne am Steinplatz

Other cafés may sell better cakes, but this coffee shop excels thanks to its student atmosphere.

The Technical University’s student café has a great atmosphere and reasonable prices.

One of several modelled on the US Starbucks chain, this café is opposite the Technical University.

This modern café, based in an S-Bahn arch, forms part of an architectural gallery.
