1. Café d’Anvers

House, soul, disco and funk in an old warehouse in the red-light district. The best-known – and, to many, the best – disco in town.
2. Stereo Sushi

This trendy club features a mix of international DJs and home-grown talent.
3. Cafe Local

A glamorous complex of themed Latin-American-style areas: Cuban market, high street, ballroom. It holds Saturday-night salsa, and Latin-American “fiestas” on advertised dates.
4. Red and Blue/Fill Collins Club

Red and Blue is a men-only club on Saturdays; Fill Collins is a conventional club on Fridays.
5. Het Elfde Gebod

The name means “The Eleventh Commandment”, and the bar’s walls are packed with gaudy religious icons. A stairway to heaven?
6. Bierhuis Kulminator

A beer-drinking shrine of world class, with some 500 beers.

A chic cocktail bar in the arty dockland area south of the city centre. Cigars are a speciality.
8. Den Engel

A classic Belgian bruine kroeg (brown pub – brown with the patina of age) overlooking the Grote Markt. Try a bolleke (chalice-like glass) of De Koninck, Antwerp’s cherished own brew.
9. De Muze

A friendly pub with live jazz most evenings until 2 or 3am. Exposed beams and brickwork create a cosy ambience.
10. De Vagant

A welcoming traditional cafébar offering some 200 types of jenever (gin). The restaurant upstairs specializes in jenever -based dishes.
