  • This bar/restaurant located in a white-walled colonial house is the place for quality Italian food and potent cocktails. You can also relax in the large garden

  • Deep shade and an ideal view over the beach make the bar in the Paamul cabañas and camping site (see Cabañas María del Mar, Isla Mujeres) a great place to get refreshed after time in the sun. Snacks are also available.

  • This very relaxing, pretty café on the roof of Cozumel’s museum (see Museo de Cozumel) has a great view of the waterfront and good coffee. Tasty breakfasts and snacks too.

  • Puerto Aventuras’ own disco-bar is unpredictable – sometimes quiet, sometimes buzzing. The music is eclectic.

  • Carlos‘n’Charlie’s, Cozumel

Cozumel’s biggest bar-restaurant-music venue is the place where you’re assured of finding a (usually pretty raucous) crowd every night, partying in the open air to classic rock circa 1970 to 2000.

  • El Paraíso, Tulum

Many of the cabaña-clusters along Tulum beach have bars, but Paraíso, near the ruins, has the best view, with a big terrace for catching the breeze.

  • This relaxed, rustic-looking nights pot fe a tures a fun mixture of pop, rock, hip and salsa music.

  • The Mayan-style architecture of the building makes this a s tunning location for the rock memorabilia chain. Occasional live music.

  • Cozumel’s Hard Rock offers no changes from the international formula but draws in the crowds with its loud, friendly atmosphere. Special pluses are good air-con and better live bands than most island bars.

  • The place to go for a more relaxed, much less hectic time – specialties at this bar are cocktails and Havana cigars, and the music is live, cool jazz.
