  • CHICAGO PIZZA AND OVEN GRINDER

This is a must see when in Chicago. It has the best salads anywhere! They even have salads for men if you call a eight layer of greens, veggies, cheese, ham all in a huge bowl I dare you to finish! To accompany the salad order a Mediterranean bread, which is half as big as your table. You just tear into the flat bread with olive oil, Parmesan, and spices. I just tear a piece and fold it as you would a taco and Vavavavoom dig in. I will guarantee you will be full. And just in case you are not, order an oven grinder sandwich, or even better their version of a deep deep dish pizza. You will be back when in Chicago. You will also enjoy the fact that across the street is the same location for the Valentine Day Murders, from the Capone era. So you will enjoy history as well. Come early as you will wait a bit but it will be worth the wait. See the website to check hours.

  • Giordano's Pizza

Mmmm. Words cannot describe the flavor; truly, if you are Chicago and skip this exquisite pizza, you are missing out on a staple of Chicago culture. There are many locations, including right next to Sears Tower, so be sure to stop by. The original deep dish Chicago pizza in all its glory. Bon appetit!

  • Delicious Chicago-style deep dish, with a choice for every day of the month. If you're a tourist, plan your meal time for other than rush hour. Sit where famous celebrities have eaten.

  • A delightful Vienese coffee shop selling delicious pastries and perfect coffee. Your coffee is presented to you on a silver tray with a tall glass of water and a tasty cookie. The shop is situated on the bustling Southport Avenue in Lakeview.

  • Large portions of delicious meals served by an energetic, friendly and helpful wait staff. Time it right and while you are waiting for your meal to arrive, catch a dance class upstairs!

  • White Fence Farm

This is food on a farm - pet the animals, ride on the miniature train display, plenty of kids rides and a nice place to take a walk. Not justa place for the kids - see the antique car museum and collections of antique dolls. one of the attractions inside with the food is the 10 uniquely decorated dining rooms. Food is mainly chicken (which is gorgeous) but they also do fish and other meats. Chicken is their speciallity and it would be a place to try it out. I went at Christmas and it was full of the most amzing Christmas lights - worth the journey out from Chicago by itself!
