Bakken Amusement Park in Klampenborg, 20 minutes north of central Copenhagen and easily accessible by train, is a great alternative to Tivoli. It's one of the oldest amusement parks in the world and has all the fun of the fair, restaurants, bars, and shows but it's not as 'manicured' or touristy as Tivoli. Entance is free - you just pay for each ride you want to go on (although you can buy a wristband for unlimited rides which is a much cheaper alternative with children!) A trip to Bakken makes you feel you've had a real Danish day out and not just been a tourist.

This statue is an attraction you should not miss. It depicts the goddess, Gefion, and her four sons, who she has turned into oxen to help her with her task of creating the island of Zealand. Water splashes out from under their hooves and over the wheels of the plough. Even more dramatic is the mist sprayed from the nostrils of the oxen. It is truly an impressive sight. and many people stop to photograph this fantastic statue.
