1. Lennon’s
Lennon’s is a big favourite with the under-25s, and the dance floor (playing high-energy dance music) is always heaving at weekends.

2. Churchill’s
A favourite with the Brits, this brash, raucous pub hosts legendary karaoke nights which pack in the punters, plus theme nights and lots of competitions. Tacky but fun, in true Benidorm style.

3. Penélope Beach Club
The beachfront outpost of the mega-club Penélope (see Penélope, Benidorm), this is an elegant bar-cum-club, where you can sip a cocktail and watch the crowds flow along the seafront. The action starts late, when the music hots up and the go-gos get going.

4. KM Disco Garden
One of several mega-clubs on the Carretera Alicante-Valencia (others include Pachá, Manssion and Penélope), KM has room for 5,000 people. The laser shows are spectacular (see KM, Benidorm).

5. Home of Blues
This classic rock bar has live concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, featuring jazz, blues and old-fashioned rock’n’roll. It’s right on the seafront in the old town.

6. Benidorm Palace
Come here for the biggest, flashiest and most extravagant shows in town, with acrobats, cabaret singers and the famous show girls. You can dine as you watch, or just have a drink.

7. Sunset
The friendly Sunset bar has a relaxed lounge area with sofas, plus a small dance floor playing mainly Spanish pop from the 1980s onward for a slightly older, calmer crowd.

8. Sinatra’s
This celebrated cocktail bar features regular cabaret acts and other live performances (usually in winter), and attracts a more mature clientele.

9. Underground
Underground hosts regular live gigs featuring local and upand-coming bands, plus great jam sessions. At weekends, top DJs spin an eclectic mix of dance music.

10. Zanzíbar
Benidorm has a buzzing gay scene, and the Calle Santa Faz is packed with gay and gay-friendly bars and clubs. Zanzíbar has a friendly, mixed crowd, and there are nightly drag shows.
