  • 1. Don’t Arrive Too Early

Be prepared for a late night; clubs in Spain rarely get going before 1am.

  • 2. Dress to Impress

Take some trouble over your appearance; local clubbers make a big effort. Note that many clubs don’t allow trainers (sports shoes).

  • 3. Trensnochador

A special train service between Alicante and Altea runs all through the night in July and August.

  • 4. Free Drinks

Club admission prices usually include one drink, so make sure that you hang on to your ticket.

  • 5. Flyers

You can get flyers on special one-off musical events from local music shops.

  • 6. Terrazas

Many of the clubs on the Costa Blanca have outdoor terraces, which offer welcome respite from the rigours of the dance floor.

  • 7. Proceed with Caution

Boys beware: Spanish women are usually surrounded by protective boyfriends or brothers.

  • 8. Drugs

Drugs may well be offered to you, but they are illegal in Spain, and the penalties for possession are tough. Just say no!

  • 9. Special Events

You can get information about special events at www.clubbingspain.com

  • 10. Beach Parties

Beach parties are common, free and entirely spontaneous.
