1. Don’t Arrive Too Early
Be prepared for a late night; clubs in Spain rarely get going before 1am.

2. Dress to Impress
Take some trouble over your appearance; local clubbers make a big effort. Note that many clubs don’t allow trainers (sports shoes).

3. Trensnochador
A special train service between Alicante and Altea runs all through the night in July and August.

4. Free Drinks
Club admission prices usually include one drink, so make sure that you hang on to your ticket.

5. Flyers
You can get flyers on special one-off musical events from local music shops.

6. Terrazas
Many of the clubs on the Costa Blanca have outdoor terraces, which offer welcome respite from the rigours of the dance floor.

7. Proceed with Caution
Boys beware: Spanish women are usually surrounded by protective boyfriends or brothers.

8. Drugs
Drugs may well be offered to you, but they are illegal in Spain, and the penalties for possession are tough. Just say no!
