  • Housed in a historic building which was first a Venetian church then a Turkish mosque, the museum is packed with Minoan finds, Hellenistic and Roman marble sculpture, pottery and jewellery found at archaeological sites in western Crete.

A very good museum to visit,not only for the many interesting exhibits found in and around Xania but for the building itself and its surounding garden. The exhibits are well laid out with very informative information supplied. Not least on a very hot day it is a wonderfully cool place to go.
