Archaeological Museum

  • The Bull-Leaping fresco from the Palace of Knossos, 17th-15th centuries BC

    This important museum in Heraklion houses archaeological finds from all over Crete, and is second in importance only to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. Pride of place goes to the treasures of the earliest European civilization, the Minoan, which was responsible for the great palace at Knossos.
