    Sweet and aniseed flavoured, ouzo turns a milky white when water is added. An acquired taste.

    Brace yourself for this fiery, grappa -style spirit. Not to be consumed in quantity.

  • 3. Brandy

    Drunk on its own or in a variety of cocktails. The brandy sour is the island’s own cocktail and very palatable.

  • 4. Wine

    Red and white wines from Cyprus are generally unpretentious, quaffable and cheap, and quality continues to improve.

  • 5. Filfar

    This sticky-sweet liqueur, distilled from Cyprus oranges, is best enjoyed with coffee.

  • 6. Mosphilo

    Unique to Cyprus, mosphilo is a sweet-sour liqueur distilled from the red berries of the hawthorn tree.

  • 7. Beers

    Brewed in Cyprus are KEO, Carlsberg and Five Beer, plus Leon – first produced in 1937 and recently reintroduced. Most foreign beers are also available everywhere.

  • 8. Coffee

    Starbucks and Costa Coffee are here, but you should also try ellinikos kafes , served in a tiny cup and thick with sugar and caffeine.

    From the brandy sour to the saucy Sex on the Beach, Cypriot bars offer an extensive cocktail list.
