  • 1. The Colony, Kyrenia

The grand façade of the most luxurious hotel in Northern Cyprus cannot fail to impress, and inside it lives up to first impressions, with a marble foyer, spacious rooms and attentive staff. A lovely pool terrace on the first floor looks out over the roofs of Kyrenia. Only 20 minutes away is the hotel’s private beach, and a shuttle bus takes you there.

  • 2. Chateau Lambousa, Kyrenia

Regarded as one of the very best hotels in the North until the opening of The Colony in 2003. With its location on the beach, the Lambousa is still a fine hotel which has more than earned its reputation.

  • 3. Kyrenia Jasmine Court Hotel

One of only a few hotels in Northern Cyprus to have been awarded 5-star classification, Jasmine Court has a beachside location, super views, and luxurious rooms and restaurants.

  • 4. Merit Crystal Cove Hotel, Kyrenia

Perched above the sea about 15 km (10 miles) west of Kyrenia, this huge modern hotel would not look out of place in Las Vegas. With landscaped grounds, two swimming pools, a private beach and one of the North’s smartest casinos, it really feels like a tropical island hide-away.

  • 5. Denizkizi Royal Hotel, Kyrenia

Wooded grounds surround the air-conditioned suites here. There is an array of bars and restaurants, a huge swimming pool, fitness centre and a choice of watersports.

  • 6. Riverside Holiday Village, Kyrenia

Accommodation here is in one-, two- or three-bedroom cottages or villas with self-catering facilities, but there are also several restaurants and bars if you don’t want to cook for yourself. Facilities include swimming pools, tennis court, volleyball and horse-riding.

  • 7. Kyrenia Oscar Resort

The Kyrenia Oscar Resort offers spacious rooms and suites, a pool and a location near one of the region’s best beaches.

  • 8. Yazade House, Kyrenia

This delightful assortment of studios, apartments and villas is owned by an English couple. There is a pool in the courtyard.

  • 9. Bilfer Palm Beach Hotel, Famagusta

Overlooking the sandy beach north of Famagusta, this medium-size hotel is comfortable and well-appointed despite its rather undistinguished 1970s-style architecture. Facilities include tennis courts, a gym, Turkish bath, pool, restaurant and terrace bar, as well as a casino and nightclub.

  • 10. Salamis Bay Conti Resort

At this huge hotel most rooms have sea views, and there is a large pool and an adjacent beach.
