    Midweek hip-hop electronic music with DJ Mahogany makes this a very popular spot with a young Dominican crowd.

  • 2. Guácara Taína

    The premier club of Santo Domingo is in a beautifully lit cave located about 98-ft (30-m) underground. Bands often perform live, and there are merengue workshops for foreigners (see Guácara Taína, Santo Domingo).

  • 3. Jet Set

    Latin music with merengue, salsa, and bachata ballads are played, but, most importantly, this is the headquarters of the Club Nacional de los Soneros, so there’s lots of Cuban music, particularly son.

  • 8. Barceló Bávaro Casino

    Five Barceló hotels share the facilities of a 24-hour casino, a theater featuring Las Vegas-style Tropicalísimo casino shows, and a disco which plays a variety of music.

  • 9. Hamaca Coral by Hilton

    At this venue, the music’s mostly Latin. American and English numbers are played occasionally. A well-equipped casino with tables and slot machines awaits those who enjoy gambling.

  • 10. Atarazana 9

    Located by Alcázar de Colón, Atarazana 9 is acafé and bar offering live musicand a relaxed atmosphere (see Atarazana 9, Santo Domingo).
