Top 10 Places to Eat
-
1. Halo at The Morrison
Minimalist chic is the form here – the hotel (see Morrison) and restaurant were designed by the fashion supremo John Rocha. Modern European food with an Asian influence is put together with predominantly organic ingredients.
-
2. Chapter One
Warm colours, comfortable seating and courteous service set the tone. Excellent “theatre” dinner (see Gate Theatre) and Irish and French cuisine.
-
3. Chief O’Neills
This multilevelled open-plan eating and drinking place opens onto Smithfield’s cobbled square. Good bar food.
-
4. 101 Talbot Street
Just around the corner from the Abbey Theatre (see Abbey and Peacock Theatres). There’s a choice of the main restaurant or the simpler Pasta Bar.
-
5. Panem
This tiny eaterie is a great place to take gorgeous filled foccacias and croissants out on to the boardwalk in the summer – the interior is so chic, however, you may just want to stay inside.
-
6. Clerys
The vaulted tearooms of this department store serve a lunch menu of salads, soup and sandwiches, but afternoon tea is their speciality.
-
7. Bangkok Café
No prizes for decor but the atmosphere is informal and the food always good.
-
8. Epicurean Food Hall
International food emporium with everything from kebabs to French cuisine.
-
9. Dublin Writers’ Museum Café
At the back of the museum (see Dublin Writers’ Museum) this cheerful café has filling dishes as well as lighter snacks.
-
10. Gresham Hotel
This grand hotel (see The Gresham) offers a fine international menu, but head here for a particularly good afternoon tea.
