Hong Kong

“A dream of Manhattan, arising from the South China Sea.” For succinctness, modern travel writer Pico Iyer’s description of Hong Kong has yet to be bettered. From opium port to Cold War enclave to frenetic financial capital, Hong Kong has never been boring. This is the hedonistic engine room of cultural fusion: East meets West in high style, and the results astonish and delight. Prepare to experience one of the most dramatic urban environments ever conceived.

  • Take a trip around Aberdeen Harbour on a water taxi, see the boat peoples boats and have a fantastic meal on the floating restaurants.

  • ASRA indian restaurant

One of the best Indian-style restaurants in Shatin & still going strong. Lot of choices, relaxed ambience. Excellent Curry, & Kebabs. Food deliver, catering & take away service.

  • Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司)

In Hong Kong, you have to try everything, especially things that sound a little out of the ordinary.

This is an interesting place to have breakfast. You'll get to see what the locals like to have in the morning to start the day.

Steamed milk, steamed egg, sramble eggs, toast, French toast, macaroni or spaghetti in soup - all served in its very Hong Kong way. And not forgetting to try the Hong Kong style milk tea (奶茶) or the Yuanyang drink (milk tea & coffee beverage) with your breakfast!

  • Run by Maxim's, they serve reasonably priced yummy-licious Dim Sum and Cantonese cuisine at the City Hall Chinese Restaurant.

Best time to go is first thing they open - to get a table with a view to the harbour. The queue tend to grow at a rapid speed both in the morning and during lunch, but the efficient staff always gets customers seated happily.

It's sometimes easy to get yourself confused in the wrong crowd upon your arrival at the City. There is a wedding registry within the same building!

They serve Dim Sums in the traditional way, you can pick your dishes from the trolleys that come around your table! Definitely an interesting dining experience.

  • This is a family run restaurant in Central, tucked away along Wellington Street. With its unassuming front, this place is a gem in the middle of the busy Central. The friendly owners originate from Shanghai, they make extremely good Jiaozi (Chinese Dumpling) and interesting side dishes. Don't miss the chance taste the Hawthorn Tea, or the Soya drink too!

If you visit early in the day, you might catch a glimpse of the Jiaozi in production - yes, it's all fresh!

  • Heichinrou runs a chain of Chinese Restaurants dotted across Hong Kong serving Cantonese cuisine. The food and service experienced so far are of excellent quality. They serve delicately prepared & presented Dim Sum.

  • Fascinating insight into Hong Kong's history and cultural heritage. Opened in 2000, it even has a replica of a village within the New Territories

    A definite must

  • An excellent wildlife reserve with visitors centre with interactive displays to help you appreciate our environment. There are walks around streams and beside lakes with bird hides overlooking the surrounding wetlands. A play area makes it fun for children and it is educational for all the family.

  • There is a concentration of interesting restaurants and hang outs around Knutsford Terrace offering a wide variety of cuisine. Definitely a great place to meet up after work, for dinner, or drinks!

  • The people of Taiwan love food so much they have perfected little eats (tasty snacks served in small portions) the bes place to get these is the night markets which are held all over the island. At Shilin the biggist and best night market you can try amongst others a shilin sausage served with raw garlic and eaten with a coctail stick, oyster omelettes in red sauce. or addictive pork stewed and served with rice or if you are adventurous try animal guts simmered in broth and eaten cold eat this and you are sure to win the respect of the locals sitting beside you. Shilin market is open every day and dishes cost about under $2 each.
