  • Conveniently located in the center of the Strip, the Mirage is famous for its tropical atrium, pretty pool with cascading waterfall, and Siegried & Roy’s white tigers (see Mamma Mia! & White Tiger Habitat).

  • An elegant European theme is reflected in the large rooms, each with a marble bathroom.

  • The Statue of Liberty raises her torch over the busiest intersection in Las Vegas. Nearby the Empire State, CBS, and Chrysler buildings rub shoulders with the Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central Station, and the New York Public Library. Despite the architectural license, New York–New York is an exciting place with all manner of well-observed details.

  • The campground offers showers, restrooms, and fuel. Reservations are not accepted.

  • Alas, the City of Light has to lose something in translation to the City of Bright Lights. Even so, the Eiffel Tower model is impressive; the bicycle-riding delivery boy, and a cheery “bonjour” from valet-parking attendants are nice touches, too.

  • Polo Towers

Condominium offering nightly rentals when the units are not occupied by time-share members. Great for families.

  • Ramada Express Hotel and Casino, Laughlin

Advertised as “the premier destination for mature travelers.” There’s a Sunday flag-raising ceremony, a free multimedia show called On the Wings of Eagles , and a 1940s Museum of Memories.

  • A carnival atmosphere pervades this upbeat hotel-casino (see Casinos, Casinos and Hotels and Motels). Its huge neon sign is unarguably the best in town. The only departures from the theme – special events such as a visiting “Treasures of Russia” exhibit – are so fabulous that no one seems to mind.

  • Rio All-Suite Hotel

Perfect for visitors who want the total resort experience without the congestion of the Strip.

  • A hit with people who love vacations with active sports for its ice skating rink and 60-lane bowling alley. Golf packages are also available.
