1. Treasure Island

Top of the bill is the spectacular pirate battle staged regularly at the hotel entrance (see Treasure Island Sirens of TI).
2. Caesars Palace Grounds

When Caesars Palace opened in 1966, no one had ever seen anything quite like it. The grounds, studded with Roman-style statuary, were – and still are – enchanting.
3. Paris Las Vegas

It may not be quite the real thing, but well-observed touches lend the place a characteristic joie de vivre .
4. The Venetian’s Gondoliers and Minstrels

The gondoliers sing as they pole their boats, and when not on the water they roam the casino harmonizing Italian arias.
5. MGM Grand Lion Habitat

Ferocious roars sound a warning as you approach the glass viewing tunnel.
6. Mirage Volcano

This is Las Vegas at its lavish best: after dark, every 15 minutes, the “volcano” at the Mirage blows its top (see The Mirage Volcano).

The breathtaking choreography of the fountain displays at Bellagio offers some of the best free entertainment in Las Vegas.
9. M&Ms World

Extraordinary as it seems, an entire attraction – including a 3-D movie – has been built around these tiny, candy-coated chocolates.
10. The Sphinx at Luxor

It would be a shame (if hard) to miss the 10-story sphinx (larger than the original) guarding the Luxor Hotel-Casino. The best view of this Las Vegas landmark is as you come in to land at McCarran International Airport.
