  • 1. Rio

Cocktail waitresses in bright, flouncy costumes, an upbeat color theme, and friendly personnel make this casino a favorite with residents and visitors alike. The Rio also has the reputation of serving the best casino food in town. Video poker is the most popular game here, perhaps because mini-TV sets are mounted on top of some of the machines.

  • 2. Monte Carlo

The building reflects its European namesake, but the casino is typically Las Vegas, with the usual machines and table games. Monte Carlo’s slot club is, however, superior to most; the air seems fresher than in most casinos, too.

  • 3. J. W. Marriott Las Vegas

The casino at this sophisticated Southwestern-style resort is small. It is also relatively quiet. Best of all, when gamblers want a break, they have a choice of strolling through the lush gardens, eating at seven different restaurants, and browsing the art gallery and smart shops.

  • 4. Santa Fe

With more than 1,700 slot and video-poker machines, the Santa Fe also has a large non-smoking area. People who suffer from claustrophobia in casinos will find relief here, where ceilings are high and small groups of machines are located near the main entrance. During gaming breaks, watch the skaters at the Santa Fe ice rink.

  • 5. Harrah’s

One of the most respected names in the gaming industry, Harrah’s has more than a dozen properties across the USA and offers value for money in service, food, and ambience. Harrah’s also has one of the best slot clubs as far as prizes are concerned; the club card can be used at any Harrah’s casino, so it works well for people who like to gamble wherever they vacation.

  • 6. Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas

Because of the hotel’s location, 17 miles from Las Vegas, most of the people who gamble here are hotel guests, so it is usually quiet during the day when many of them are playing golf. Even when full, the casino never feels crowded – a great plus for people with a low tolerance for noise.

  • 7. Fiesta

The decor is unmemorable, but the slot and video-poker machines are considered the most liberal in town. There’s a drive-up sports book – gamblers can place bets without getting out of their cars. Eateries are close to the casino floor, so non-stop gamblers don’t have to take much time out for eating.

  • 8. Golden Nugget

This casino sets itself apart from its downtown neighbors, for both clientele and ambience. The restaurants are very good, and the casino is a pleasant place to gamble while waiting to see the Fremont Street Experience, which takes place just outside its doors.

  • 9. Sunset Station

Primarily patronized by local residents, Sunset Station is located across from the Galleria at Sunset shopping mall. The casino is light and well-ventilated. It also has a Kids’ Quest (nursery) on the premises.

  • 10. Arizona Charlie’s

Western-themed Arizona Charlie’s is best known for its huge bingo parlor. There’s also an enormous race and sports-book facility. It depends largely on the local trade, and its employees are very friendly.
