London

A city of infinite colour and variety, London is both richly historic, tracing its roots back over 2000 years, and unceasingly modern, at the forefront of fashion, music and the arts. There is a fantastic amount to interest and entertain the visitor here: a selection of the best of the best is explored here.

  • Abbey Road Studios

An iconic recording studio used by the Beatles, etc.

  • Absolut Ice Bar London is the first permanent bar made of ice in the UK. The bar is kept at minus 5 degrees all year round and everything inside is made out of ice transported from the Torne River in Sweden.

The walls, bar, tables, and even the glasses are made out of ice. The Absolut Ice Bar is operated in 40 minute time slots and you are given a thermal cape with a hood to keep you warm during your visit.

Every six months the bar is completely re-designed with a brand new design.

The Absolut Ice Bar was such a great experience and was the talking point for the whole weekend!

  • AD 43: Roman Invasion

When the Romans arrived in Britain, they built a bridge across the Thames from Southwark and encircled Londinium with a wall, part of which is still visible in the City. Their forum was in Cornhill and their amphitheatre lies beneath the Guildhall.

  • The centre has a restaurant and bar as well as a bookshop on two floors. Ethnic goods are also sold.

  • Seasonal and eclectic modern European cooking combined with top-rate service.

  • Albert Memorial

This edifice to Queen Victoria’s beloved consort, Prince Albert, glowing from a recent restoration, is a fitting tribute to the man who played a large part in establishing the South Kensington museums. Located opposite the Royal Albert Hall, the memorial was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1876. At its four corners are tableaux representing the Empire, which was at its height in Victoria’s reign.

  • Prince Albert, beloved consort of Queen Victoria, has a splendid memorial in Kensington Gardens.

  • Located in a beautiful park, this reconstructed 1873 exhibition centre offers a range of amusements, including regular antique fairs. Tours of the 1920s BBC studios may be booked.

  • Algerian Coffee Stores

Opened in 1887, this is one of the oldest shops in Soho. It exudes a wonderful aroma of the many kinds of coffee it sells. Speciality teas and herbal infusions can also be bought here.
