London

A city of infinite colour and variety, London is both richly historic, tracing its roots back over 2000 years, and unceasingly modern, at the forefront of fashion, music and the arts. There is a fantastic amount to interest and entertain the visitor here: a selection of the best of the best is explored here.

  • If you want to see the latest in British contemporary art, then this is the place to come. Hoxton Square is home to the White Cube gallery, where many of the now established contemporary artists, known as the YBA’s (Young British Artists), such as Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Tracey Emin, first made their names. Acrobats and aerial performers put on shows at Circus Space on the north side of Hoxton Market. Popular cafés and restaurants include the Hoxton Kitchen and Bar and the Real Greek.

  • The Hoxton opened in 2006 and was created by an owner who disliked faceless hotels and knew there should be an alternative. The Hoxton Hotel describes itself as an 'urban lodge' which seems apt as it is hard to label. They also say 'budget luxury' but I think that might detract from just how cool this place is. Sure, it's well-priced and there are no hidden costs but it's also a hip, designer hotel with an industrial feel. The Hoxton is funky, great value, and very welcoming.

  • Real value for money offers and great quality and location.

  • Popular hang-out in arty Hoxton, serving coffees and drinks all day. The lunchtime menu offers light meals such as barbecued chicken baguettes, artichoke quiches and pasta dishes.

  • Fascinating collection not only of specimens, skeletons, surgical instruments and so on, but also some rather good paintings, recently reopened and well presented

  • Central London’s largest green area can tire out any walker. It takes about an hour and a half to walk around, but there are plenty of diversions, from the Serpentine Gallery, to cafés, fountains and flower gardens.

  • Hyde Park Stables

Ride around Hyde Park or take lessons – this is the best place for horse riding in London.

  • WOW! what a fantastic place to visit. It's huge with lots to see and do all in one place. The Diana memorial is nice and tranquil. Time to reflect on life. Lots of people about doing various activities. Events taking place or just time to unwind in peacefull surroundings. Go visit today!

  • This inexpensive French chain’s Docklands hotel is near the river on the east side of Canary Wharf, just off the busy main streets. Rooms are perfectly adequate, and a substantial buffet breakfast is served.

  • ICA

A stately, colonnaded terrace by Nash houses London’s hippest gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Arts. The ICA’s cutting edge policy on the visual arts includes developing new and challenging digitally-produced works, and Becks Futures, the UK’s largest arts prize for students.
