London

A city of infinite colour and variety, London is both richly historic, tracing its roots back over 2000 years, and unceasingly modern, at the forefront of fashion, music and the arts. There is a fantastic amount to interest and entertain the visitor here: a selection of the best of the best is explored here.

  • For skateboarders, BMX riders and rollerbladers, this new park also has a go-kart track.

  • This stunning, blade-like suspension bridge links Tate Modern on Bankside with St Paul’s and the City opposite. Unfortunately, this new footbridge suffered from excessive movement when it opened to a rush of pedestrians in 2000. It has since reopened and is a delightful and apt approach to Tate Modern.

  • A West End whisky specialist, Milroy’s has a small bar where malts can be sampled.

  • Dance all night to the hippest house and garage tracks.

  • Originally an 18thcentury coffee house, this bustling pub-with-rooms (16 ensuite) is close to Greenwich’s sights and transport links. The traditional pub is popular with locals and market shoppers, and serves a good selection of pub food, including Sunday lunch. There is a conservatory and garden. Parking available.

  • Brilliantly-decorated in a kasbah style, this modern, North African restaurant servestajines and couscous. The Mo Tea Room and Bazaar next door serves tea and snacks.

  • One of the oldest French restaurants in London. Daily specials keep the menu fresh.

  • One of the best places to buy and sample really good coffee, including organically produced brews. The tantalizing aroma drifts up to the wooden bench tables in the café at the back of the premises.

  • This fabulous French restaurant is unhurried, unpretentious and oozing Gallic goodness. The menu changes daily.

  • Shop selling chocolate to die for. Great for presents ( or just to treat yourself) - you can get bars, buttons, chocolates, drinking chocolate, cooking chocolate - everything. There are all sorts of weird and wonderful additions - even chilli. Drop everything and go, now.
