  • Atmospheric jazz and blues dive that stays open up to 2am. The Rolling Stones played here, as did the Sex Pistols and other punk bands of the 1970s. Today there is Indie music and early evening dance classes. Membership is not required.

  • This three-storey club heaves to drum ‘n’ bass, hip hop and funky soul.

  • Absolut Ice Bar London is the first permanent bar made of ice in the UK. The bar is kept at minus 5 degrees all year round and everything inside is made out of ice transported from the Torne River in Sweden.

The walls, bar, tables, and even the glasses are made out of ice. The Absolut Ice Bar is operated in 40 minute time slots and you are given a thermal cape with a hood to keep you warm during your visit.

Every six months the bar is completely re-designed with a brand new design.

The Absolut Ice Bar was such a great experience and was the talking point for the whole weekend!

  • The Aquarium Bar on Old Street is horrible; it mostly serves as a place for the yellow shortsleeved beshirted chavs awaiting their entrance into the temple of vomitessness that is the Aquarium nightclub to drink the requisite number of pints that they can consider themselves attractive enough to pull. HOWEVER, it has a large, plain, very high up roof terrace, which is a sun trap all afternoon and surprisingly chilled. It's a very well kept secret.

  • This theatre is now a famous rock venue, playing host to a variety of bands. Its rough-and-ready ambiance attracts a crowd of devoted fans.

  • Trendy cocktail bar and restaurant serving modern European cuisine. Open until 3am Mon–Sat.

  • Invariably packed in the evenings, this lively bar stays open 24 hours. Hot dishes and sandwiches are on hand to keep people on their feet. Their eggs benedict is to die for!

  • Bar Chocolate

Cute, low-lit bar serving a myriad of cocktails. Mojitos are particularly good with lots of fresh mint.

  • Sit at the bar or out on the heated pavement and enjoy the best Italian coffee in London. A huge screen at the back of the bar shows Italian football matches. Open 24 hours.

  • Famous for its wildly-gothic interior, this bar serves coffee and snacks during the day, and becomes a swanky cocktail lounge in the evenings. A good place to mingle with the fashionable Notting Hill crowd.
