London

A city of infinite colour and variety, London is both richly historic, tracing its roots back over 2000 years, and unceasingly modern, at the forefront of fashion, music and the arts. There is a fantastic amount to interest and entertain the visitor here: a selection of the best of the best is explored here.

  • Maggs Bros. Rare Books

This shop is one of the oldest and largest dealers of antiquarian and rare books in the world. It also happens to be located in what is reputedly the most haunted house in London. Huge mahogany bookcases stacked high with leather-bound books fill the shop. Everything from letters to manuscripts written by long forgotten scientists, artists and explorers can be found here. The terrifying tales of ghosts have existed since Victorian times and include reports of flickering lights, disembodied screams and strange deaths. If you dare to enter, this shop is sure to have whatever mysterious and magical book you might need.

  • Masters Super Fish

A good ol' regular fish and chip shop. With plenty of fish choices on the menu (e.g. Cod, Huss, Haddock, Plaice, Skate), you'll be sure to find something that catches your fancy. Three complimentary cooked prawns and bread rolls are plonked at your table the moment you sit down, this place proves to be cheap and cheerful. To get there, head south from Waterloo Station, the restaurant is just past the Old Vic Theatre.

  • Fantastic cocktail bar. Little pricey but well worth it. All fresh ingredients, the bar staff is friendly and passionate about mixing drinks, and it is a needed escape from the craziness of Oxford street.

  • Great little chilled-out local bar featuring a massive selection of microbrewed beers from around the world, including several on tap.

  • Mildreds

Hungry? Vegetarian? This is an amazing place for vegetarians who actually want more than salad (who said vegetarians want the same in every resturant they go to?). There's a good selection of tasty homemade food here not your just out of teh freezer stuff. The range includes burritos, tagines, bangers-and-mash, teriyaki stir-fries, and Porcini-mushroom-and-ale pies. Look out for the daily special ours was a leek, fennel and sweet potato burger, served with fruit relish and homemade chunky chips. The only downside is the place is always heaving and you can't book. But a fantastci place to adventure too if you haven't been already! Come early!

  • Shop selling chocolate to die for. Great for presents ( or just to treat yourself) - you can get bars, buttons, chocolates, drinking chocolate, cooking chocolate - everything. There are all sorts of weird and wonderful additions - even chilli. Drop everything and go, now.

  • End of the Northen Underground Line.

Lovely park to vist with some pleasant walks. Also a nice pub/reastuarant in the grounds & Garden Centre

  • pancake house resturant

  • Easy to miss as it's got to be one of London's smallest drinking holes - and a real insider's gem. Only locals really know it. Just off the Strand, it's full of character and worth seekig out.

  • New Wembley is the new home of the English football team. This football stadium will hold alot of the London 2012 olympic football games.
