  • This unusual and happening store is known for featuring the most unique eyeglass designs on the planet and attracts its share of the hip crowd.

  • Best known for its exquisite crystal pieces, this boutique actually stocks the entire product line, including jewelry, watches, and perfume.

  • This “modern apothecary” uses only natural ingredients for its innovative skin care products and has an assortment of olive oil soap sold by weight.

  • Main Street, Santa Monica

A laid-back yet sophisticated string of one-of-a-kind boutiques (with the occasional chain store thrown in for good measure), Main Street makes for a fun and eclectic shopping experience with plenty of cafés for people-watching. On Sundays, catch the farmers market (see Unique Main Street Boutiques).

  • This small store stocks affordable jewelry, mostly silver, to adorn any body part you wish to, including toes, tongues, and belly buttons. Also has a great mask collection.

  • Melrose Avenue

Melrose puts the “fun” into “funky” (see Melrose Avenue, Melrose Trading Post). Tattooed 20-somethings pick up vintage clothing, eccentric clubwear, and jewelry in stores between La Brea Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. West of Fairfax is a newer designer enclave and farther west, the Pacific Design Center is more about trendy home furnishings.

  • This cool Sunday flea market takes you back through the years with vintage fashions, collectibles, and retro furnishings.

  • MOCA Store

A smaller branch of the gift shop at MOCA in downtown LA (see Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)), this is a great place for artsy souvenirs, from posters to jewelry.

  • You’re likely to bump into celebrities in the upscale boutiques on Montana Avenue. It’s fun peeking at the clothes, home furnishings, beauty products, and exercise gear favored by fashionistas.

  • There’s plenty of kitsch with classic neon signs, vintage toys, Art Deco lamps, and other collectibles at this emporium of weird Americana.
