  • This is a well-run club with an exciting range of rooms and areas for full-on partying, having a quiet drink with friends, or even taking a nighttime dip in a pool fit for an emperor. It’s a beautiful and inviting place, run with an unerring sense of style and good taste – it’s glitzy, of course, but never tacky. The location is a bit off the beaten track, but it’s worth whatever it takes to get there.

  • Resembling something you might find in the American Southwest, with warm adobe colours and desert decor, this place is just a block off the beach and popular for cocktails, coffee and cakes. Internet access is also available.

  • The ultimate café, right on Port de Sóller’s sandy beach, has friendly service and the quaint Sóller tram (see Tram from Sóller to Port de Sóller) running by at regular intervals. It’s a perfect place to while away a few hours, with your feet firmly planted in the sand, a drink in hand and eyes on the horizon.

  • A very happening Irish joint, full of cute 20-somethings living it up. Make it the place for drinks before hitting the discos all night long.

  • A full line-up of drinks, nachos, some unusual Swedish-influenced dishes and baked potatoes with various toppings. Closing time is when the last customer leaves.

  • Pacha, Palma

One of Palma’s top clubs and located along the waterfront, this huge place specializes in loud house music. As with nightlife venues all over Spain, the action doesn’t get going until about 1am – so don’t arrive early and be considered hopelessly naïve or desperate! It’s a mixed crowd at all times, though there are regular gay-themed nights (“Pacha Loca”) in season.

  • Set in a classically Spanish building that could be in Andalucia – white with a red-tile roof, and a quaint footbridge – Pepe’s offers simple drinks and snacks.

  • The port attracts a young, active crowd for whom this is the numero uno club in town, leading the way with techno, hip-hop and black music.

  • The evocative decor mixes US license plates and nautical objects. The annex below is the El Faro wine bar, and all of it is part of a white stucco complex of trendy shops and restaurants.

  • A bit off the beaten path, and mostly for a younger crowd. The music focuses on the latest hits.
