The top bar in Port d’Andratx is centrally located at the port and popular with tourists and locals alike. Open in the evenings only, it quickly gathers momentum and is soon crowded with port denizens enjoying themselves and the parade of passers-by. The bar features a range of traditional and innovative drinks for you to sample as the night wears on.
-
Special drinks include the Noray (orange juice, dark rum, cassis and grenadine) and Chameleon (curaçao, rum and OJ). The place is popular with Brits and Mallorcans.
-
An artsy venue, with cosy furniture and red walls. The service is friendly and bouquets of silk flowers create a romantic setting. The music is good in summer. You can go online for 2–25 minutes.
-
Head here if you want to gaze out on Portocristo’s inlet and picturesque palisades while lingering over a drink or fancy ice cream and soaking up the laid-back atmosphere of the town. It’s also an ideal listening post for the musical entertainment at the nearby park.
-
Located just above all the hubbub of Plaça Gomila, this idiosyncratic, friendly little place will remind you of a gypsy encampment. Expect live ethnic music most nights, and an eclectic range of non-Spanish foods – Middle Eastern finger foods and other exotic treats. It isn’t remote, but it feels that way.
-
An Irish pub that makes you feel instantly welcome and at home. The very friendly and outgoing staff are part of the magic, but the setting itself is also very attractive, with patio seating right in the centre of the port action, and a warm, cosy series of rooms inside – not to mention the classic bar, where you can just hang and chat with your new-found friends.
-
An outgoing Irish pub, right in the middle of everything. There’s live music some nights and generally a good mix of hip modern rock otherwise.
-
Palma’s other huge nightlife venue is popular with a younger crowd, from teens to 20-somethings. The décor is all very modern, with lots of stainless steel in evidence, and the light show and sound system are, of course, up-to-the-minute, the music ranging from house to top-40. Sunday night is Gay Night.
-
The only British bar in town is a popular and fun place, sometimes with live music and internationally known acts. Check out big screen Sky TV, a bit of karaoke, darts or pool, and acquire your own Trotters T-shirt.
-
A hip place done up in primary colours, with tiny halogen lights above a granite bar and an assemblage by Basque artist S’Anto Iñorrieta.
