  • Have a drink, snack or full meal while wriggling your toes in the sand at this popular spot with those in the know. Great seafood dishes are served with delicious wholewheat bread.

  • The ultimate café, right on Port de Sóller’s sandy beach, has friendly service and the quaint Sóller tram (see Tram from Sóller to Port de Sóller) running by at regular intervals. It’s a perfect place to while away a few hours, with your feet firmly planted in the sand, a drink in hand and eyes on the horizon.

  • A full line-up of drinks, nachos, some unusual Swedish-influenced dishes and baked potatoes with various toppings. Closing time is when the last customer leaves.

  • A bit off the beaten track, this outlet has an extensive range of stylish jackets, bags and shoes. Prices are slightly lower than elsewhere in town.

  • Tour the best-known factory, where the sight of imperfect pearls being smashed can be unnerving. Then enter the large showroom, usually thronged with avid buyers. The glass-cored gems come in every colour and setting imaginable.

  • Uses fish caught around Illa de Cabrera, served up in vast portions in an open dining area on the port.

  • The top bar in Port d’Andratx is centrally located at the port and popular with tourists and locals alike. Open in the evenings only, it quickly gathers momentum and is soon crowded with port denizens enjoying themselves and the parade of passers-by. The bar features a range of traditional and innovative drinks for you to sample as the night wears on.

  • Italian and Mallorcan cuisine served by the sea. The zabaglione is to die for.

  • Read’s, Santa Maria del Camí

Arguably, this establishment contains the most perfect food on the island, brought to you by superbly trained waiting staff in an exquisite dining room or on a terrace under the stars. Its Michelin star is well-deserved, and chef Marc Fosh is a true master of creative excellence – every bite is pure pleasure.

  • The dining room of this Michelin star restaurant is defined by two arches, Classical frescoes and of a balustrade overlooking the sea. The food is close to perfect. Don’t miss the Lobster “Cappuccino”.
