  • This bar and grill borders on being a fast-food joint, but it has a great mix of fajitas, tacos, guacamole, hot dogs, hamburgers, 25 beers, margaritas and more. No need to book.

  • The tantalizing aromas are the first things you’ll notice, then the infectious Spanish music. Regional dishes include roasted peppers, grilled meat, fish and rice soup and barbecued rabbit.

  • El Foro de Mallorca, Carretera Palma-Alcúdia

The delicious Mallorcan food makes up for its touristy image. The 1-kg (2-lb) lamb chop feeds four and comes with salad, red wine, lemonade and bread.

  • Located directly on the water. Have tapas with your drink, or be tempted by the set menu of the day. Live music.

  • Friendly, atmospheric place with hip music and a lobster tank. An extensive menu includes fried artichokes, fresh oysters and tumbet (vegetable stew).

  • This local café is steeped in tradition. Just sitting here for a few minutes will send you into a timeless state of rural, rustic life that can melt away the most frenetic habits. It’s also a perfect place, in the shadow of the ancient church portal, to try a time-honoured orxata , a sweet, creamy soft drink made from tiger nuts.

  • A café in the town’s central square, where you can study the magnificent parish church and listen to birds chirping.

  • The feel is North African, with live music and art exhibited. Moroccan and Middle Eastern cuisine is on offer, such as delicious hummus, tabouleh and tajines.

  • Es Grau, Carretera Andratx-Estellencs

This roadside café is located right next to the Mirador Ricardo Roca (see Andratx Round Trip (Drive)), and shares the same great views of the entire coast. You can get drinks, snacks or a complete fill-up here before you hit the road again. Don’t miss browsing through the unusual gift shop on the site – amid all the tourist junk that has little to do with Mallorca, you’ll find some pretty pottery.

  • Try mushrooms, snails or brochettes of rabbit, lamb or quail. The place has an ancient, rustic feel (see Finca Son Sama, Llucmajor–Porreres).
