  • 1. Bar Marítimo, Cala Rajada

Looks a bit like the deck of an ocean liner. It’s a place to relax, have a drink or a snack, and survey the busy boats going in and out.

  • 2. Sa Pedra, Portocristo

Café-restaurant hung with contemporary paintings and with a huge terrace overlooking the palisades, boats and port. Ice creams, snacks and full meals available.

  • 3. Sa Cantina, Portocristo

The clubby, nautical-theme decor of the bar, with sailing trophies everywhere, suits the port setting, while the whitewashed medieval interior reminds you of the place’s roots.

  • 4. Komudus, Portocristo

A shop with original designs from Menorca: suede bags, traditional shoes and sandals, original T-shirts and fine linen clothing. They also carry anodized aluminium jewellery.

  • 5. Autèntic Mallorca, Portocristo

This special shop has all things Mallorcan: some 90 products including sandals, natural scents, dolls, musical instruments, glass, preserves, sausages, liqueurs, turrón (nougat), fig confections and olives.

  • 6. Café Sa Plaça, Santanyí

Come for pa amb oli (see Pa amb Oli), olives, ham, pickled peppers and Mallorcan cheeses. The refurbished interior has marble tabletops and archways, and outside you can watch the local action in the main square.

  • 7. Ambar, Santanyí

The shop stocks crafts from all the Balearic Islands: woven bags in traditional colours, candlesticks, basketry, lamps, glassware, ceramics, jewellery, decorative objects, antiques, clothing, hats and hangings.

  • 8. Basketry Shops, Artà

Artà is famous as Mallorca’s centre for handsome everyday items made from the tough fibres of the palmito (palmetto) plant, which grows wild all over the island.

  • 9. Blauet, Cala Figuera

A shop that imports jewellery and decorative objects, with an emphasis on North Africa.

  • 10. Toca Madera, Colònia de Sant Jordi

Cotton clothes and unusual gift items from all over world, including candles, glassware, masks and sandals.
