  • 1. Mónaco, Port de Sóller

    Have a drink, snack or full meal while wriggling your toes in the sand at this popular spot with those in the know. Great seafood dishes are served with delicious wholewheat bread.

  • 2. Bar Vicente – Los Rufianes, Port de Sóller

    A wonderful place where Spanish flamenco music stirs the air. Order sangria, fresh orange juice or pa amb oli (see Pa amb Oli) in various guises, then sit back and enjoy the view.

  • 3. Blue Willi’s, Port de Sóller

    Shop here to kit yourself out with nautical-preppy chic that’s easy to wear and launder.

  • 4. Jardineria Pedro, Sóller

    Row after row of terracotta and painted pottery of all kinds – jars, pots, planters, dishes, bowls, decorative masks and all sorts of hanging containers. It’s a wildly colourful place and fun just to roam.

  • 5. Bar Bellavista, Port d’Andratx

    A great place to stop for Irish coffee, iced coffee and even iced chocolate. Sit on the waterfront at one of the best locations on the main drag of the port for people-watching, day or night.

    This is where the locals hang out. Inside, you’ll find the TV blaring, the usual gambling machines and Mallorcan pottery.

    Founded in 1872, this is a pastry shop offering such delights as mantecados (shortbread), cremadillo de cabello (sugar-coated mille feuille), pastel de chocolate (iced chocolate cake with walnuts) or tortaletta rechesol y frutos secos (moist tart topped with nuts). Also buy a bag of quelitas (tiny, egg-shaped crackers).

  • 9. Ceramiques Estellencs, Estellencs

    Artisan shop with pottery of all sorts, and also embroidery ( punt mallorquin ), glassware, cards, lithographs, jewellery, preserves, wine, olives, oil and authentic robes de llengües (tongue of flame cloth).

  • 10. Brodats Mallorquins, Banyalbufar

    Local handmade embroidered items are the speciality, such as tablecloths, baby booties, crocheted doilies and T-shirts.
