  • Vietnamese “burritos,” whole steamed fish, fried lobster, rice bowl, and other specialties have all found their way into the hearts – and bellies – of locals. Unusually for Maui, the café stays open right through from lunch to dinner.

  • Alexander’s Fish & Chips

Fresh fish, shrimp, chicken, and potatoes are fried in canola oil (or broiled if you prefer). Perfect for a picnic lunch on one of Kīhei’s beaches.

  • Simply delectable Vietnamese food at great prices. Try the tangerine beef or sesame chicken.

  • Barefoot Bar

You can’t get closer to the beach than this, a bar where you can wiggle your toes in the sand. One of the island’s best for cocktails, appetizers, sunset, and checking out the beautiful people on “Dig Me” Beach.

  • Though David Paul Johnson is no longer involved, many of his signature dishes survive, such as Tequila Shrimp and Firecracker Rice, Kona Coffee Roasted Rack of Lamb.

  • Maui’s only brewpub is a favorite hangout of west side residents who enjoy the nightly live music. The wine list has received the Award of Excellence for three years running. The beer is brewed in three large copper vats which can be seen by the patrons.

  • Gerard Reversade has been honing his own style of classic French cooking mixed with island flair for more than 20 years.

  • Huge burgers, messy ribs, frou-frou drinks, and plenty of rock ’n’ roll memorabilia.

  • Fresh fish, steak, and ribs are served at this lovely open-air restaurant. Great desserts and an excellent wine list.

  • Through the lush gardens and across the wooden bridge to the Lagoon Bar for a light lunch or, in the evening, a truly amazing event: the nightly Torch Lighting and Cliff Diving.
