  • This is small-town U.S.A., Moloka’i style. On Saturdays, take a leisurely look at the farmers’ market, which is also part swap meet, part social gathering.

  • Big Wind Kite Factory/Plantation Gallery

You can buy handmade kites and windsocks, and view the owners’ collection of drums, baskets, jewelry, and textiles.

  • In typically laid-back Lāna’i style, the owners of this whimsical shop, which now specializes in merchandise to “enhance your home and your soul,” decided to keep with the store’s previous name.

  • This plantation offers walking tours of its coffee processing and roasting operations twice a day. Brands produced on-site include Malulani, Muleskinner, and Moloka’i Gold Estate.

  • Owners Kim and Phoenix Dupree seek out unique, locally handmade art and craft items for their shop. You’ll find wonderful gifts, ranging from food produce to wooden vases, and soaps to books.

  • Heart of Lāna’i Art Gallery

Hotel Lāna’i artist-in-residence Denise Hennig owns and operates this gallery. Stop by for one of her afternoon “Lāna’i-Kine” teas.

  • More than 140 Moloka’i artists, ranging from painters and photographers to wood-turners, fabric artists, and Moloka’i shell jewelry makers, are showcased at this gallery.

  • Purdy’s Macadamia Nut Farm

A small, one-acre family farm, with personal tours conducted by the Purdy family. Their 80-year-old macadamia trees produce luscious nuts, which you can taste in all stages of development.

  • A true old-fashioned general store, there’s a little bit of everything you might need here. In addition to groceries and sundries, you can stock up on fishing and camping gear, clothing, wine, and cold beer.

  • A clothing boutique that seems more suited to Honolulu than little Lāna’i. But Genna Gentry’s assortment of swimsuits, casual clothing, and chic evening wear are tailormade for well-heeled vacationers.
