  • 1. Azeka Makai & Mauka

The former houses the post office, souvenir shops, fast food joints, and Azeka’s Snack Shop – the only place left to get the old market’s famous ribs. Across the road, Azeka Mauka offers local banks, more souvenirs, and Stella Blues.

  • 2. Pi’ilani Village Center

Mainlanders will feel right at home amid Blockbusters, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and Hawai’i’s largest Safeway. For local flavor, Roy’s Kīhei is a good choice, as is Hilo Hattie (see Hilo Hattie).

  • 3. Hilo Hattie

Once regarded as nothing more than a tacky tourist dive, Hilo Hattie has branched outward and upward, and now even locals browse the racks of better quality aloha wear.

  • 4. Kukui Mall

The home of Kīhei’s only movie theaters. After a film, you can “grind” Tony Roma’s ribs or snack at an assortment of eateries.

  • 5. Kīhei Kalama Village Marketplace

A group of open-air stalls, where you can search out some “craftedin-Hawai’i” items.

  • 6. Clementine’s

A long-time Maui resident, Clementine magically crams a treasure trove of unique clothing, jewelry, accessories, and more into a joyous cupboard of a room!

  • 7. Rainbow Mall & Kama’ole Shopping Center

The former offers souvenirs and resort wear, and has a great little kiosk called Maui Espresso. The latter is home to 24-hour eatery Denny’s, postal services, and Whalers General Store, for everything from toiletries to souvenirs.

  • 8. The Shops at Wailea

Maui’s most upscale shopping complex features international names like Tiffany & Co., Prada, and Banana Republic alongside local retailers, such as Honolua Surf Co. for casual wear and Martin & MacArthur for stunning wood furniture.

  • 9. Cy Maui

Beautiful, unique, handpainted and silk clothing, much of it locally made.

  • 10. Blue Ginger

For those who enjoy more subtle versions of Hawaiian prints, Blue Ginger offers some great designs. It is especially good for baby and children’s clothes.
