  • 1. Old Lahaina House

Off Front St. and away from the crowds, hosts John and Sherry Barbier serve breakfast to their guests poolside in a courtyard surrounded by tropical landscaping. Several rooms have private baths.

  • 2. Lahaina Inn

Each of the 9 rooms and 3 parlor suites in this lovely and well-located inn are individually decorated in Victorian style. Modern conveniences mingle with the antiques. Continental breakfast included.

  • 3. Plantation Inn

This charming 19-room inn combines plantation-era style with 21st-century convenience. Tucked away in its own bubble of serenity, the inn has a Jacuzzi and pool open 24 hours. Breakfast (included) is prepared by Gerard’s, a wonderful French restaurant that occupies the front of the building.

  • 4. The Old Wailuku Inn at Ulupono

Janice and Tom Fairbanks have lovingly transformed their 1924 home into seven singular guestrooms, complete with Hawaiian quilts and some whirlpool tubs. Three rooms in a new addition feature standing spas. Full, and incredibly delicious, breakfast included.

  • 5. Eva Villa

Located in Maui Meadows (an upscale residential area), all the rooms here have private baths and separate living rooms. There’s a heated pool, a Jacuzzi, and fresh breakfast foods are left in the fridge each day.

  • 6. Haikuleana

Built in 1850 to attract a doctor to the area, this plantation-style home now welcomes guests to four nicely appointed rooms, all with private baths. Breakfast is served in the home’s dining room or may be enjoyed in the tropical Upcountry air, amid lush vegetation.

  • 7. Olinda Country Cottages & Inn

Near the top of Olinda above Makawao town, this is a special little romantic hideaway. The main house has two guest rooms and one “sweet;” there are also two cottages on site, complete with quilts and fireplaces – at the 4,000-ft level of Mt. Haleakalā, very welcome.

  • 8. Kili’s Cottage

A wonderful family cottage in verdant Upcountry Kula. With three bedrooms, it can easily sleep six, and the cottage has all the amenities a family could want, including a washer/dryer, a barbecue, and a fridge that is replenished daily with breakfast goodies.

  • 9. Bloom House & Bloom Cottage

A three-bedroom house and a two-bedroom cottage just a garden walk away form a perfect partnership for a large family or group of friends. Both are extremely well equipped and tastefully decorated. A little traffic noise by day and chilly at night, so the fireplaces come in handy.

  • 10. Hale Ho’okipa Inn

Listed on the State of Hawaii and National Historic Registrars, this charming and serene Craftsman-style house was built in 1924. It has been thoroughly restored and is comfortably furnished with period pieces.
