  • Bars and Lounges

    Cantinas start filling up in the late afternoon, usually serve food, and often close by 11pm. Bar la Ópera in Centro and Cantina la Guadalupana in Coyoacán are popular cantinas. Bars and lounges are busiest from midnight on. Many of the large hotels have lounges with nightly entertainment.

  • Cinema is extremely popular in Mexico City, and prices are reasonable. Cinemex and Cinepolis are the two largest theater chains.

  • The National Symphony Orchestra and the National Opera perform at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. The Centro Cultural Ollin Yoliztli and Sala Nezahualcóyotl host music performances. Other musical events are held at venues throughout the city, including the Auditorio Nacional and Estadio Azteca .

  • One of the most popular dance clubs is in the lounge at Bar León. Live merengue and salsa music are played. Trendy El Bar Mata offers two floors of dancing to the sounds of jazz, blues, and rock.

  • Hotel de Cortés offers a Friday evening Mexican Fiesta with Folklóric Ballet and a mariachi band. Mesón del Cid offers a medieval show with Spanish cuisine each Saturday. Bellini and a few other restaurants, are part of night-life tours where you dine and then join a bus tour.
