  • The Starbucks on Ocean Drive is predictably always busy. The outside tables are perfect for watching the world go by while enjoying an inexpensive snack and a coffee.

  • Tantra pleases all the senses, with the stunning interior – fresh-grass floor, water wall, fiber optic “sky”, and erotic art. That’s aside from the food, aphrodisiac drinks, and new-age music.

  • A water wall greets you when you step inside Tantra. Inhale the jasmine-scented candles while you listen to the new age music. There’s always a line to get in, but don’t go too early. The fun doesn’t start until the small hours.

  • Terrace at the Tides

Very chic outdoor dining. Sit where celebrities have sat and tuck into the gourmet cooking: maybe lobster gazpacho or coconut mascarpone cheesecake.

  • The Bull

Three bars in one, on three different floors. Street level always has some live entertainment going on, while the top floor open deck is the Garden of Eden, the famous clothingoptional bar (see “The Garden of Eden,” Key West).

  • Located on the seventh floor of the Holiday Inn La Concha Hotel, the Top Lounge is one of the best places to get a 360-degree view of the island and beyond, drink in hand. You can also go up for the view when the bar is closed.

  • SoBe’s premier gay venue, huge and always jumping, but it doesn’t get started until very late, of course, and then it goes till dawn. Don’t show before midnight unless you want to be considered a desperate wallflower. So popular of late that even straight people are beginning to take to it.

  • SoBe’s largest gay venue has recently expanded, and there’s something on every night of the week. Happy hour daily 1–9pm.

  • Van Dyke

In the heart of Lincoln Road Mall, this is a prime spot for viewing the street parade. A good place for breakfast or lunch. Live jazz upstairs.

  • This bar attracts a young, rowdy, post-beach crowd with its powerful frozen drinks with names such as Call Me a Cab. Nibbles to accompany the drinking include tasty fried calamari.
