  • The Miami Heat calls the American Airlines Arena home.

  • Adjacent to the impressive American Airlines Arena, this complex feels part Disney themepark, part international bazaar. Right on the waterfront, it’s always good for a stroll (see Bayside Marketplace and Bayfront Park).

  • An excellent way to explore South Beach, Key Biscayne, or Key West. Rental shops abound, and there are a good number of excellent bike trails in the Everglades, too.

  • There is no doubt that bicycling is one of the best ways to see the Keys. The roads are fairly bike-friendly, especially in Key West, and bicycle rentals are readily available.

  • Bicycling

The best way to get around both Miami Beach and Key Biscayne.

  • Also rated as one of the top ten beaches in the US, located at the pristine southern tip of Key Biscayne.

  • Closer to Miami than John Pennekamp, the Biscayne National Underwater Park has almost as many good snorkeling possibilities. Here you’ll find vivid coral reefs to dive among, and mangrove swamps to explore by canoe.

  • Boating and Kayaking

Striking out on your own in a kayak, you can explore the colorful waters around the Keys, or slip into the winding mangrove creeks off Florida Bay. While at the other end of the scale, you could climb aboard historic schooners the Western Union or the America.

  • Boating and Sailing

The many dozens of marinas in the Keys are full of companies ready to rent you whatever kind of boat you would like – or to take you out, if you prefer.

  • The main walking part of Little Havana lies along SW 8th Street, between about 11th and 17th Avenues. But interesting spots are quite spread out for blocks around, and most of them are best found by driving, then exploring on foot (see Calle Ocho, Little Havana).
