  • 1. Norman’s

Norman Van Aiken is the country’s chief protagonist of New World fusion cuisine. Experience opulent aspects of tuna, foie gras, fish, seafood, and even simple salad greens that you never knew existed.

  • 2. Restaurant Place St. Michel

A romantic spot, capturing the feel of Paris. Every bite is a thrill to the palate, although it is hardly French, leaning more to the Caribbean. Grilled fish with plantains and salsa, for example.

  • 3. Christy’s

Still packing them in after 20 years, this local favorite has been made a landmark by politicians, CEOs, and celebrities. Aged steak, fresh seafood, and award-winning caesar salad.

  • 4. Monty’s Stone Crab Seafood House and Raw Bar

A vast dining room in an old airplane hangar. Try the Jamaican jerk spiced fish, or just go for the excellent peel-and-eat shrimp and raw oysters. It’s a Miami insititution.

  • 5. Giralda Café

The 1,000-year-old traditions of Peruvian cookery – e.g. fried yucca with huancaina sauce, fish and shrimp cevíche, and beef stew in cilantro (coriander) sauce.

  • 6. Baleen

Fresh oysters shucked at your table, the best lobster bisque on Biscayne Bay, oaksmoked diver scallops, and Asian bouillabaisse are some of the treats.

  • 7. The Cheesecake Factory

One of six in South Florida, serving everything from pot stickers to shepherd’s pie, and, of course, at least 36 types of cheesecake.

  • 8. Anokha Fine Indian Cuisine

Tandoori a specialty, and side dishes featuring homemade paneer cheese.

  • 9. Titanic Brewing Company

Lift a pint of homemade brew and sample crawfish or calamari snacks.

  • 10. Café Tu Tu Tango

“Food for the starving artist” is their by-line, and, indeed, artists and their works are all over the place. Wonderful light fare, such as seared sashimi tuna salad, and crispy shrimp brochettes.
