  • 1. Vierge Miracle & Botànica Saint Philippe

Right in the heart of Little Haiti, it doesn’t get more authentic than this. It’s helpful if you can speak French to find out more about the myriad soaps, sprays, and lotions.

  • 2. Minar

Oriental rugs – some very old and exquisite – art, textiles, wall-hangings, and beautiful ceramics from Central Asia and China. The atmosphere is delightfully Eastern, right down to the tea served.

  • 3. Divine Trash

All sorts of antiques, art, collectibles, and various found objects. The upbeat, charming proprietor, Donna Ashby, is something of a local celebrity. Don’t miss her orchid garden and the great day spa upstairs (see Jacqué, Inc.).

  • 4. Jacqué, Inc.

Environmentally conscious, aromatherapy day spa, with various treatments and a line of natural fiber clothing, herbal lotions, and organic foods.

  • 5. Art By God

Impressive mineral/nature store, with dinosaur fossils, natural and carved semiprecious gemstones, insects, shells, butterflies, skulls, animal mounts, etc.

  • 6. Urban Garden

A wonderful space, chock full of architectural antiques, garden relics, studio props, and indefinable treasures.

  • 7. It’s A Take

Everything needed for a lifetime of romantic dinners: place settings, linens, decorative objects galore, gourmet treats, and a florist.

  • 8. Mynaya

Off the back garden of Soyka restaurant is this lovely little shop featuring imported clothing and accessories.

  • 9. Diable En Deuil Botánica

If you want luck or for your lover to behave, there are ways… and this is the place to find them: Haitian powders, potions, and iconographic figures abound, some of them very sexually graphic.

  • 10. Naomi Variety Store

For a taste of the Islands, stop by this earthy little shack selling tropical fruits, vegetables, flour, etc.
