  • 1. Pink Umbrella Gallery

Hand-painted furniture and all sorts of accessories, large and small, for indoors or out, such as charming birdhouses.

  • 2. Maddie’s World

Crystals, jewelry, and gifts, including natural cosmetics and fragrances, and lush silk paintings.

  • 3. Today’s Collectibles

You’ll have to step over the dogs as you enter from the front porch. Inside you’ll find Tiffanystyle lamps, marcasite and antique jewelry, antique furniture, and collectibles.

  • 4. Studio G Designs

A range of handicrafts made by local artists; it’s also a yearround Christmas store.

  • 5. Tropical Attitudes Hawaii

Bright and breezy natural-fiber resort wear is made here, all of it original design. The designer will make things to order.

  • 6. The Aviary

Here’s the place for you if you’ve finally decided you must sport a macaw or cockatoo on your shoulder. Plus, you can buy your new pet a Tiki Hut cage and all the seed and accoutrements it will need for a joyous, talkative life as your companion. A wonderful place to visit, laid out like a tropical garden.

  • 7. Homestead Antique Mall

A pleasant little mall in downtown Homestead. Spaces, to the left as you enter, and Found Treasures, toward the end on the right, are very appealing. A classic shell-encrusted clock or mirror, for example, is utterly characteristic of regional Florida culture.

  • 8. Goneteaking Antiques

One of the more inviting of Homestead’s 20-odd antiques shops, at least half of which are on Krome Avenue, the town’s main street. Snoop here for fine antiques, old clocks, Victorian bric-a-brac, Depression glass, pottery, vintage linens, jewelry, etc.

  • 9. ArtSouth

Local artists live and work here, giving classes as well as selling their work.

  • 10. Ochun OggúAn Botánica

Seems that every little South Florida community has at least one Botánica (Cuban spiritual store). Stop by to pick up some extra True Love Spice or an amulet of Changâ, a Yoruba god.
