This sprawling marketplace abounds with chain boutiques, the occasional trendy local shop adding spice. (see Bayside Marketplace and Bayfront Park).

This claims to be the largest shopping center in the world, a boast you’ll believe as you drive its circumference trying to find the way in. This 8-acre (3-ha) mercantile behemoth comprises more than 300 discount outlets, from top-of-the-line goods to bargain basement rejects.

Located just off Flagler Street, where all sorts of cut-rate electronics can be haggled over, this building specializes in gems and jewelry, both wholesale and retail. Mainly a place for jewelers to pick up stock, ordinary mortals, too, can rummage the sparklers and invest in either loose gems or unique pieces of fine jewelry.

More than 200 stores fill Greater Miami’s newest middlerange mall. In part, this is an outlet for such heavy hitters as Saks Fifth Avenue, Brooks Brothers, Giorgio’s et al., but there is also a host of boutiques as well as a 19-screen cineplex at the heart of it all, on the “Ramblas”, where the liveliest eateries are found.

Here is South Florida’s largest concentration of antiques shops. More than 100 dealers offer an array of furniture, fine art, and jewelry, as well as glass, pottery and china, and various other collectibles. Prices vary greatly, so shop around for bargains.

On Saturday and Sunday, there’s a small, rather esoteric market along here, selling flowers, arts and crafts, and organic products. An array of vaguely hippie items also make an appearance, such as amulets, scented candles, stones, oriental bric-a-brac, and exotic clothing – all natural, of course. You can get your palm read, too, or decorated with henna if you prefer.

Little Havana’s foremost fruit and veg market, and you can get fresh juice, snacks, and flowers, too.

Up to 1,200 dealers show up here seven days a week from 7am–7pm, hawking everything and anything you can think of to satisfy an orgy of acquisition. Weekends are best, when the number of dealers, browsers, and bargain-hunters swells.

This lively pedestrian area, graced with attractive fountains and upscale restaurants and shops, also offers various markets. On Sunday, there’s one selling fruit and flowers, plus regional products, and specialties. Every other Sunday from October to May, there’s also a collectors’ market, and on the second Tuesday of the month “Arts on the Road” features all sorts of work.

Eighty-eight acres (35 ha) of shopping at bargain prices. The outdoor flea market features antiques, collectibles, clothing, plants, and a farmers’ market. Inside, in addition to an international food court and a video arcade, there’s a huge entertainment center with a show Wed–Mon put on by the Hanneford Family Circus, complete with elephants! The complex also claims the world’s largest drive-in theater.
